On Monday, May 29, 2017, the city of Rio Rancho will recognize Memorial Day with a parade and remembrance ceremony.
The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. and head east from Country Club Drive down Southern Boulevard, and end at the Veterans Monument Park located on Pinetree Road adjacent to the Esther Bone Memorial Library.
Immediately following the parade, a remembrance ceremony honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to their country will take place at the Veterans Monument Park. The ceremony will begin at approximately 11 a.m. and consist of several different speakers.
The deadline to register is May 22. The fee to take part in the parade is $15 per entry/float. Registration and payment can be done on online or in-person at the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices at Rio Rancho City Hall, 3200 Civic Center Circle.
While the parade is taking place (approximately 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.) the following roadways will be closed for motorist use:
Country Club Drive
Southern Boulevard from Country Club Drive to Pinetree Road
Pinetree Road to Oakmount Drive
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
