Will the City of Rio Rancho offer online registration for Summer Camp sessions?


Yes, the Parks and Recreation Department is excited to offer online registration for all Summer Camp sessions through Active Net. Registration for Summer Camp starts on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 12:00 PM (noon) both online, and at the Parks and Recreation Department located at 3200 Civic Center Circle, Suite 100; Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144.

Where can I find the online registration system?


To register for Summer Camp online, please visit the following Active Net website: Online Registration

How do I set up an Active Net account for registration?


Click on the “create an account” tab on the Active Net site. After clicking on the tab, the system will prompt you to set up a user profile for every member of your household. The Active Net registration system is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What if I do not have a computer, how would I register?


The “Active Net” online registration system is accessible from any computer, tablet, or mobile phone that has access to the internet. You can also use any public computer to access the online registration site, including the computers at the Rio Rancho Public Libraries.

What is the cost of Summer Camp?


There are 11 sessions of Summer Camp throughout the summer. The price is $87 per session, per child. Summer Camp sessions are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The price includes the $25 administrative fee per session.

Are there payment plans?


No, each session of Summer Camp needs to be paid in full at the time of registration.

What if I would like to pay for summer camp with cash or check?


You can register for Summer Camp using cash or check by visiting the Parks and Recreation Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at: 3200 Civic Center Circle, Suite 100; Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144 starting Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 12:00 PM (noon).

I placed my child on the waitlist, how will I be notified if a space becomes available?


A staff member will notify you by email or telephone if a spot becomes available.

Can I cancel a week of Summer Camp?


You may cancel a week of Summer Camp by providing notice in writing to Parks and Rec (email) at least 14 days before the session of the Summer Camp is scheduled to begin. You will forfeit the $25 administrative fee for that week, but you will receive a refund for the remainder of the tuition.

Can I change the camp my child attends or the weeks my child attends?


Requests must be made in writing at least 14 days in advance to Parks and Rec (email). We can accommodate your request as long as there is space in the session you would like to transfer to. Please remember, the $25 administrative fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

How do I add siblings to the same week of Summer Camp?


Register your 1st child for a session of Summer Camp, then click on “register another participant for this activity,” and select the child that you wish to register.

When will I receive a confirmation receipt for the sessions that I registered for?


You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you register for sessions.

I have a 3rd party agency covering the cost of my child’s camp, how do I register?


Contact the City of Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation Department at 505-891-5015 and further instruction will be given to you on how to register.

Summer Camp Locations


Summer Camp sessions will be held at the following sites Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, excluding holidays. Children will get the same amount of swimming time at all Summer Camp sites.  
  • Haynes Community Center (Sports Camp) - 100 spaces available
  • Star Heights Recreation Center (Sports Camp) - 100 spaces available
  • Cabezon Recreation Center (Sports Camp) - 100 spaces available
  • Sabana Grande Recreation Center (Creative Arts Camp) - 40 spaces available

  • Session 7 -- July 10 to July 14
  • Session 8 -- July 17 to July 21

  • Session 10 -- July 31 to August 4
  • Session 11 -- August 7 to August 11

Who can register?


Children ages 6 to 14.

Will there be meals and snacks provided?


The Rio Rancho Summer Lunch Program provides one breakfast meal and one lunch meal per child to Star Heights Community Center, Sabana Grande Recreation Center, and the Haynes Community Center ONLY. However, parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to pack additional food for afternoon snack. Cabezon Community Center does not participate in the Summer Lunch Program. Breakfast and lunch are NOT provided. We ask that campers bring a nutritious sack lunch, drink and afternoon snack.
