Public Meeting & Input: Cable One Agreement Renewal

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at the Loma Colorado Main Library, the public is invited to provide their input on future cable television-related community needs and Cable One’s performance as a Rio Rancho cable television operator since 2008.  Those who cannot attend the meeting and desire to provide input can do so via the city’s website now through Nov. 29.

In addition to gathering public input, at the meeting Cable One will give a presentation that provides an overview of their current cable television operations in Rio Rancho, detail recent and planned investments in the cable television system, and what future plans they have pertaining to cable television service in the community.

Cable One is seeking to renew their non-exclusive agreement with the City of Rio Rancho that allows them to operate a cable television system within city limits by utilizing public places (e.g., public streets, public rights of way).  Pursuant to federal regulations regarding the renewal of such agreements, public input is an aspect of the process.

Cable One’s current agreement with the city took effect in February 2008 and is set to expire in February 2018.  Where applicable, public input that is provided at the Nov. 29 meeting or online will be taken into consideration as Cable One and city officials engage in the agreement renewal process.

Cable One is among the 10 largest cable companies in the United States. Serving more than 650,000 customers in 19 states with high-speed Internet, cable television and telephone service, Cable One provides consumers with a wide range of the latest products and services, including wireless Internet service, high-definition programming and phone service with free, unlimited long-distance calling in the continental U.S.

The Loma Colorado Main Library is located at 755 Loma Colorado Blvd.
