Custodial Services
The Custodial Services Section is responsible for the daily maintenance of twenty-two (22), approximately 270,000 square feet of City buildings. This section is also involved with the City of Rio Rancho Safety Committee and helps ensure that employees are trained in various safety areas, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
Going Green:
- Cost effective environmental friendly paper goods are being used which reduce packaging waste.
- Cleaning products have been replaced with safer products for employees, the public, and the environment.
- Advanced equipment is used to help with job efficiency and a higher level of cleanliness at all City buildings.
Extending Longevity of Facilities:
- A preventative maintenance program has been implemented to prolong the life of floors and fixtures in all City buildings.
Custodial Program:
A Custodial Program has been implemented to strengthen the core areas of focus of the Custodial Section. These core areas are: safety, sustainability, and training. Each custodian is involved in this program.
- Safety: Each custodian participates in chemical, equipment, and procedural training.Emphasis is placed on proper chemical management and use including training on SDS and GHS.
- Sustainability: Research is conducted periodically to implement greener sustainable products and procedures. Supply usage is constantly monitored for cost effectiveness and efficiency. This monitoring helps evaluate the effectiveness of the products and whether or not that product needs to be replaced.
- Training: Each custodian is trained in cutting edge tools and resources to help the Custodial Section maintain an experienced and knowledgeable staff. Custodians also attend periodic, off-site training to gain expert industry knowledge.
