Official Election Results
The official results from the city of Rio Rancho’s April 12, 2016, runoff municipal election are:
Due to no candidate receiving more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in the city’s March 1, 2016, regular municipal election for the offices of District 1 and 6 City Councilor, the candidates with the highest and second-highest vote totals from the regular election were subject to a runoff election pursuant to city code.
Of the 10,575 registered voters who could have cast a ballot for District 6 City Councilor, 847 or 8 percent voted.
The unofficial runoff election results were canvassed by Sandoval County Magistrate Court Judge Richard L. Zanotti and certified as official on Friday, April 15, 2016. View the official canvass of election results in searchable PDF.

Voter Turnout
Of the 9,295 registered voters who could have cast a ballot for District 1 City Councilor, 634 or 6.8 percent voted.Of the 10,575 registered voters who could have cast a ballot for District 6 City Councilor, 847 or 8 percent voted.

Swearing-In Ceremony
At 6 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016, at Rio Rancho City Hall, the following will be officially sworn in and take office:- Jim Owen as District 1 City Councilor
- David L. Bency as District 6 City Councilor
