America Recycles Day

The public is invited to take part in activities that will recognize ‘America Recycles Day’ on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rio Rancho’s Loma Colorado Main Library.

At this free event, there will be an opportunity to recycle residential plastic grocery bags and receive free reusable grocery bags in return (limit 3 reusable bags per household), courtesy of the Walmart Supercenter in Rio Rancho. Participants will also be given the opportunity to learn about the effects of pollution on the watershed, current recycling programs in the community, and obtain conservation tips from the City’s Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful and Water Conservation divisions. Waste Management of N.M. will be on site to answer questions about new and ongoing services being offered to Rio Rancho residents, including the At Your Door® program.

Residents will also be encouraged to take the #BERECYCLED Pledge. For those unable to attend the event, the Pledge can be taken by visiting https://americarecyclesday.org/pledge/.

For questions about the event, please contact Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful at (505) 891-5015.

The event is coordinated by the City of Rio Rancho’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department; Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful Division; Water Conservation Office, which is part of the Utilities Department; and Library and Information Services Division.
