RioCares is a medical community outreach program that helps alleviate the overuse of the 9-1-1 system and the overcrowding of hospital emergency rooms through education and communication. Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue crews provide these services via follow-up visits to patients.
The RioCares Program involves patient education and case management through a one-on-one relationship between the patient and the community paramedic with coordination with social services and the patient's medical providers.
The staff for this program consists of a dedicated staff community paramedic who has received advanced training on community medical outreach and maintains constant communication with medical providers and emergency crews.
This program helps keep the Rio Rancho community safer and healthier, while helping reduce the pressure on our 9-1-1 and hospital systems.
