**1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is back with a few changes! While the Library remains closed due to the State’s Public Health Order we are asking parents to please email us at 1000BooksRRPL@gmail.com when your child reaches their 500 and 1,000 Book milestones. We will then contact you to arrange a pickup time to receive your prizes.**
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national program designed to promote reading to babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers. Reading at home during a child’s earliest years establishes strong early literacy skills. The goal is to have as many local families as possible read 1000 books to their little ones before they start kindergarten.
How It Works
Sign up online (click the link below) for the program. After you have received a welcome email, visit the Loma Colorado Main Library or Esther Bone Memorial Library to pick up your starter packet with first set of reading logs.
Read with your child regularly.
On your reading log, fill in a circle (or better yet, have your young participant fill it in) for each book read with your child.
Email the library when you’ve completed your first set of reading logs (0-500 books). After you have received a response, pick up your first prize and next set of reading logs.
Email the library when you’ve completed your second set of reading logs (500-1,000 books). After you have received a response, pick up your final prize.
