The City of Rio Rancho, the New Mexico Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration are holding a virtual public meeting to present information on construction of the Northern Boulevard corridor and provide an opportunity for the public to comment and ask questions. The project is currently in the preliminary design phase.

The purpose of the Northern Boulevard Reconstruction and Expansion Project is to accommodate future traffic demands, improve safety, provide multi-modal travel options, and correct physical deficiencies. This will be accomplished by implementing an expansion of the roadway to four-driving lanes; access management strategies; multi-modal infrastructure with accessible routes and connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists; and water, sanitary sewer, and drainage infrastructure improvements.
