Rio Rancho 101 Citizens’ Academy Registration is Now Open

The City of Rio Rancho is excited to announce that registration is now open for the Rio Rancho 101 Citizens’ Academy. We are looking for Rio Rancho residents who want to learn more about city initiatives, how city government works, and how they can support the local community.

This engaging, eight-week long program is aimed at developing citizens’ understanding of municipal government by providing introductions to and tours of City facilities, presentations by and question and answer sessions with department directors, and interactive activities that give participants an insider’s perspective into how the City of Rio Rancho operates.

The Citizens’ Academy begins September 5, 2019. Sessions will be held weekly on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at various locations around the City, and will cover all aspects of city government from economic development to water/wastewater and roads. The program is open to any Rio Rancho resident 18 years of age and older, with priority given to citizens who have not previously served on a board/commission or as an elected official. The program is free for participants.

To learn more and for registration information, please visit rrnm.gov/engage or contact Annemarie Garcia at 896-8730 or angarcia@rrnm.gov. The deadline to apply is August 23, 2019.
