Runoff Information
A runoff election is held for a municipal office where no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast for the office on March 3, 2026. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the office will face off in the runoff election.
The Tuesday, April 14, 2026, runoff election will have the Mayor position on the ballot between Paul M. Wymer and Alexandria C. Piland.
Term Start Date/ Swearing-in Ceremony
For an individual elected on March 3, 2026, and not subject to a runoff election, their term of office begins April 1, 2026.
A public swearing-in ceremony for the Municipal Court Judge and City Councilors (Districts 2, 3, and 5) will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Rio Rancho City Hall (3200 Civic Center Circle).
