On Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Rio Rancho Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will provide the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
There will be two locations for the event: Rio Rancho Police Department headquarters located at 500 Quantum Road and the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 1115 NM-528 in Rio Rancho.
The service is free and anonymous. The take-back program addresses a vital public safety and public health issue as medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse.
