Will the City of Rio Rancho offer online registration for Summer Camp sessions?
Yes, the Parks and Recreation Department is excited to offer online registration for all Summer Camp sessions through Active Net. Registration for summer camp starts on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. both online and at the Parks and Recreation Department located at 3200 Civic Center Circle, Suite 100, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144. There is not an advantage to registering in person versus registering online. All registrations will be processed through the Active Net registration system in the order that they are received.

How do I set up an Active Net account for registration?
Click on the “create an account” tab on the Active Net site. After clicking on the tab, the system will prompt you to set up a user profile for every member of your household. The Active Net registration system is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Summer Lunch Program. Breakfast and lunch are NOT provided. We ask that campers bring a nutritious sack lunch, drink and afternoon snack.
What if I do not have a computer, how would I register?
The “Active Net” online registration system is accessible from any computer, tablet, or mobile phone that has access to the internet. You can also use any public computer to access the online registration site, including the computers at the Rio Rancho Public Libraries.
Are there payment plans?
No, each session of Summer Camp needs to be paid in full at the time of registration.
What if I would like to pay for summer camp with cash or check?
You can register for Summer Camp using cash or check by visiting the Parks and Recreation Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at: 3200 Civic Center Circle, Suite 100; Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144 starting Monday, April 3, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
I placed my child on the waitlist, how will I be notified if a space becomes available?
A staff member will notify you by email or telephone if a spot becomes available.
Can I change the camp my child attends or the weeks my child attends?
Requests must be made in writing at least 14 days in advance to parksandrec@rrnm.gov. We can accommodate your request as long as there is space in the session you would like to transfer to. Please remember, the $25 administrative fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
How do I add siblings to the same week of camp?
Register your 1st child for a session of Summer Camp, then click on “register another participant for this activity,” and select the child that you wish to register.
When will I receive a confirmation receipt for the sessions that I registered for?
You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you register for sessions.
I have a 3rd party agency covering the cost of my child’s camp, how do I register?
Contact the City of Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation Department at 505-891-5015 and further instruction will be given to you on how to register.
Summer Camp Locations
Summer Camp sessions will be held at the following sites Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., excluding holidays.
- Cabezon Community Center - 40 spaces available, for ages 9 to 12
- Haynes Community Center - 40 spaces available, for ages 9 to 12
- Sabana Grande Recreation Center - 40 spaces available, for ages 5 to 8
- Star Heights Recreation Center - 40 spaces available, for ages 5 to 8
2023 Summer Camp
We are offering summer camp for nine weeks starting June 5 through August 4 with no camp on Monday, June 19 and Tuesday, July 4.
Session 1 - June 5 - June 9
Session 2 - June 12 - June 16
Session 3 - June 20 - June 23 (No camp Monday June 19)
Session 4 - June 26 - June 30
Session 5 - July 3 - July 7 (No camp Tuesday July 4)
Session 6 - July 10 - July 14
Session 7 - July 17 - July 21
Session 8 - July 24 - July 28
Session 9 - July 31 - August 4
